Our History
Since August of 2001, we
have been serving Christian Scientists who are radically relying on prayer
for healing, either in their homes or ours. We are registered with the
State of Illinois as a not-for-profit foundation.
Our founder, Kay Reed Fischer, is a Journal-listed Christian Science Nurse,
with 20 years of combined experience in management and nursing in Christian
Science facilities.
Initially, we were
only providing nursing or assistance in homes of Christian Scientists,
because that was their primary desire. It has become apparent that we also
needed to provide homes for clients who could no longer afford to remain in
their homes, or required 24 hour care. The only alternative for them
would have been medical retirement homes, or nursing facilities.
All employees are Christian Scientists, who desire to serve and care for
Christian Scientists in an environment conducive to healing. This gives
our clients a comfort level that enables them to be in an atmosphere which
promotes spiritual growth and dignity, while working out a physical
challenge, and shelters them from medical intrusion. Additionally, our
employees are members of The Mother Church, in Boston, Massachusetts, and
are properly screened, including employment background investigations.
A confidentiality agreement is signed by all of our employees.
We have opened a Training Center for those who want to dedicate their lives
to work in this field. This avenue has given us the opportunity to further
our mission and broaden our scope to include other states and expand our
service.
In addition to serving our clients out
in the field, we have opened four homes, three in Naperville, Illinois and
one in San Antonio, Texas. Each home can provide care for three
individuals, staffed 24/7, with a night nurse who lives in each home.
All of our homes are ranch style, in quiet, residential neighborhoods. These
residential homes enable us to enhance our client’s quality of life, in a
non-institutional environment, promoting spiritual growth and wholesome
activities in a beautiful, homey atmosphere among their own peers with
mutual interests.
We provide skilled Christian Science Nurses that can assist
individuals with daily activities, personal care, nutritional needs and
dressings. Companions are also available for those who do not need a
Christian Science Nurse. We can also provide a number of other services that
cover a range of activities.
